About Bob Smith

Guide Posts with Bob SmithPicture19781619964822_lg

Robert Vincent (Bob) Smith is a regular presenter on Sydney Radio 2CH, one of Sydney’s leading radio stations, presenting a twice daily inspirational message known as Guideposts with Bob Smith. He is also a regular presenter of 2CH’s weekly Sunday at 7.30 program. An ordained minister, Bob has served for nearly forty years as a chaplain to the Australian Defence Force and the New South Wales emergency services.
He is also the author of two exciting stories of adventure and intrigue. Blow the Wind Southerly is a story of adventure and intrigue set against the background of World War 1 and a mother’s attempt to see her daughter disinherited in favour of her son. Harry Drew, an intelligent boy from a poor family falls in love with the daughter of his wealthy, self-made employer. But their love, and Janie’s claim to her father’s estate seem destined for failure as her mother schemes to get rid of them. The story ranges from the grime of an English industrial town to the sparkling seas of northern Australia and the blood soaked trenches of France, as Harry and Janie fight for survival and search for each other in a world that has gone mad.
Black the Night and Wild the Sea is a prequel to Blow the Wind Southerly. Set in the turbulent era of the gold rushes and pearl fever that swept northern Australia in the 1880s, where brutal sea captains abducted natives to work as virtual slave labourers, it is a love story between two very different characters: Michael Byrnes, a warm hearted but roguish Irish adventurer, and Sele Kanawa, a beautiful and passionate Eurasian missionary. It is also a tale of a woman torn between her love for God and the work she is called to do, and her love for a man determined to make his fortune.

Do you have a copy of your “Guideposts” – would love to have them all in a book that I could read…so inspiring.

    • Hi Michelle

Not sure if you received my previous message, but if not here it is again. Sadly I do not have these short messages printed, although I have considered doing it. A number of people who hear them on radio have suggested the same thing, which is one of the reasons I decided to start this blog. Thank you for your kind comments. I am very glad that you find the Guide posts inspiring.

Thanx Bob, I did receive your reply and thank you. I am on platform duty at church today, so I may use one of some quotes to introduce our church service and our hymns, hope that is okay with you. My husband listens to your quotes each morning on 2CH – I hope that he is more than “listening”.

      • Hell Michelle, always happy for you to use my material. Blessings on your ministry, Bob

Hello Bob, I am also a 2ch listerner and find your voice and words comforting, encouraging inspirational etc and take heed of your message and relate to it. I too wondered if there was a book I could purchase so that I could read when I was sad, down, depressed and very lonely. Can you please tell me what time “sign post” can be heard on the radio. Thank you and God Bless.
    Regards
    Franceca
Ps It is my 52nd birthday today and I feel very sad that my dad is not hear to share my birthday with me. He passed away four years ago under tragic circumstances

    • Hello Francesca
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging comments. I am glad that you find ‘Guide Posts with Bob Smith’ encouraging and comforting.
I do not have these messages printed in a book – only in my blog – but I am thinking about getting them printed in book form. However there are a number of other good books of daily devotionals that you might find helpful. “Everyday with Jesus’ by Selwyn Hughes is a good one, and so is that old classic ‘Streams in the Desert’ by Mrs Charles Cowman.
My Guide Posts spots go to air most days on 2CH at 6.59am and 2.59pm. If you contact Radio 2CH they can give you more details.
I am so sorry your father is not with you to celebrate your birthday, but I hope you have a very happy one still. If you send me your address I will send you a copy of my 2nd novel I’ve had published – a birthday present from me to you.
      Blessings
      Bob

Why do you have to the Music playing during your message ? It is not backgroung Music, it is in the Fore ground and as a result one cannot hear your Bible/Christian Message. PLEASE drop the Music or at lease put the Music way way in the Back Ground so one can clearly hear and enjoy your Message
