Don’t worry about things that are unlikely to happen

Just before the start of a major concert, a member of the orchestra approached the great Toscanini with a panicked look on his face. ‘Maestro,’ he said, ‘my instrument is not working properly. I cannot reach the note of E-flat. What can I do? The concert begins in a few minutes?’ Toscanini said, ‘I smiled at him and placed an arm around his shoulders. “My friend,” I said, “Do not worry about it. The note E-flat does not appear anywhere in the music that you will be playing this evening.”’
It reminds me that ninety percent of what we worry about is unlikely to happen; and as for the other ten percent, we should remember what Jesus said: ‘Don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes’ – just as He’s always done.
