When your morning seems to be going bad

Following the September Eleven tragedy, a group of workers who should have been in the Twin Towers, but weren’t, met together to share their stories. One was late for work because his son started kindergarten. Another was late because her alarm clock didn’t go off and a third got stuck in a traffic jam. One man missed his bus and another couldn’t get his car to start. There was a woman who’d spilled food on her clothes and had to go home to change, and a man who got a blister and stopped to buy a band aid.
The thing they all had in common was that they had been angry and frustrated by the delays in getting to work; delays that meant they are alive today. If there’s a lesson in these stories, it’s whenever your morning seems to be going wrong, don’t get mad. Make yourself look for the possibilities in it.
